All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To hire a vehicle in Grimsby, you must be at least 21 years old, though age limits may differ depending on the vehicle selected, with possible extra fees for drivers under 25. You need a valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of address are required, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional conditions may apply as outlined in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made directly on our website, over the phone, or at our Grimsby office. A deposit might be necessary to confirm your booking. The total balance, along with a security deposit, is usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure transactions handled by trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed to document any findings. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. The vehicle should be returned with the same amount of fuel as when collected. If it is returned with less fuel, refueling charges will apply. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges that occur during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- Basic third-party insurance is included with every car rental in Grimsby. You will find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial liability. It's advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you have opted for additional insurance. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, irrespective of your insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Activities such as racing, off-roading, or similar hazardous pursuits are prohibited. Transporting dangerous materials is also not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. Usage must align with the vehicle's intended purpose, and adherence to passenger and weight limits is required. Driving outside the specified geographical area without prior approval is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Grimsby is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraudulent activities.
Governing Law in Grimsby
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be addressed exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
